First things first, if you haven’t tuned in to Joan Nathan’s matzo ball video tutorial, you are missing out on the TRUTH about how it’s done.

As if you needed more proof that the proper preparation of matzo-ball soup is not a task for the faint of ladle (I did punch myself for typing that), I bring you the expert palates of the Los Angeles Jewish Home. The residents there are featured in the video below that features a matzo-ball soup tasting and…let’s just say…the LA Jewish Home is as strident in its criticism of substandard matzo-balls as the Israeli Jewish Home is about dividing Jerusalem. (I happen to find the LA Jewish Home exponentially more lovable.)
