• Following the death of two Palestinian activists–both of whom will reportedly killed during clashes with Israeli troops–as well as the death of a Palestinian prisoner from cancer, thousands of Palestinians began protesting across the West Bank. In a separate incident, another rocket was fired from Gaza into southern Israel. [AP]

• In an attempt to shore up support for his successor, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is apparently taking a hardline against Iranian conservatives ahead of the June vote. [NYT]

• The Forward has a report on the second Jewish infant to contract herpes after the circumcision employed the controversial metzitzah b’peh ritual. The parents of the child did not sign the mandated city consent form. [Forward]

• Larry Thomas, who played the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, is none too pleased about having his likeness in gun advertisements that decry New York State gun laws. The makers of the ads, Serbu, will drop the ads. [NYP]

• American Jewish leaders are pressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take confidence-building measures for peace in response to President Obama’s call for a return to negotiations. [JTA]
