“Excited to join the partnership that is giving back to the city of Jerusalem by offering the Hapoel basketball team a fresh start,” the New York Knick’s power forward Amar’e Stoudemire tweeted yesterday. The Israel enthusiast joined New York-based investor Ori Allon in a group bid on Israeli basketball club Hapoel Jerusalem.

Stoudemire, who famously visited the Holy Land in 2010, can check out the team in July when he returns to Israel, this time as a coach for the Canadian basketball team in the Maccabiah Games.
