Israeli cuisine continues its American tour de force, Americans keep on eating

Israeli food is on fire right now (!). Israeli burger chain Burgerim opened in LA to much fanfare, Israeli restaurant owners are putting out cookbooks left and right (I’m still pretty convinced that Jerusalem cookbook is the key to Middle East peace), and Israel’s top chefs recently traveled to New York just to tell us about their food.

Americans are certifiably obsessed, and restaurateurs are taking notice. Steven Cook and Michael Solomonov, owners of Philadelphia’s Joan Nathan-endorsed Zahav (where Solomonov is chef), are opening two more restaurants in 2014. The first, called Dizengoff, will be a “casual hummusiya,” and the second, Abe Fisher, “an approachable restaurant serving the cuisine of the Jewish diaspora”

Happy eating, American.
