After more than two week, the anti-government militants currently occupying the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon, have broken out the ram horns. “CHRISTIANS THE BATTLE TRUMPET HAS BEEN SOUNDED TIME TO RISE!,” wrote Blaine Cooper, one of the group’s leaders, who posted a video of two militiamen blowing shofars onto Facebook. “CALL TO ACTION SEND IN THE TROOPS TO STAND WITH US IN BURNS OREGON!”

Now, here’s the thing: They ain’t all that bad at it. Ever tried to blow a “battle trumpet” made of ram horn? Yeah, well how about doing it in 30 degree weather during a stand-off with the U.S. government? Didn’t think so.

So if you’re planning to join the militia in Oregon, and you need to brush up on your ram horn-blowing skills, consider the following Vox Tablet podcast with expert shofar-blower Ira Rezak. He’s got you covered.
