Hillary Clinton has hired Sarah Bard—a 35-year-old political strategist who worked for Mrs. Clinton during her bid for The White House in 2008, and during President Obama’s re-election bid in 2012—as her Jewish outreach director, reported Haaretz on Friday.

Bard, the daughter of a Boston rabbi, is an experienced campaigner within the Democratic party. For Obama, she led the Jewish Leadership Council, a fundraising arm. She also worked for DNC chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), and “has held leadership roles in the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington’s Young Leadership Division.”

An article in the National Journal, summarizes Clinton’s recent outreach to the Jewish community thus:

Over the past few months, Clinton has done her typical due diligence reaching out towards a reliably Democratic constituency, writing op-eds in Jewish Journal and The Forward about her personal commitment to the security of Israel, the fight against ISIS, how to punish Iran should it violate the landmark nuclear deal, and why she opposes the “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions” movement. In December, she discussed the U.S.-Israel relationship at a Brookings forum sponsored by Haim Saban, an Israeli-American entertainment mogul who has given millions to her campaigns. Her top campaign staff held an event for Jewish donors around the White House Hanukkah reception. And on Thursday, the Clinton campaign named a new director of Jewish outreach, Sarah Bard.

Of Bard, Washington D.C. PR specialist Steve Rabinowitz, a former staffer for Bill Clinton, said:

“The campaign needed someone who is well versed in our complicated community, a veteran campaign organizer, knowledgeable about the issues, and not uncomfortable at a political fundraiser. They get all that and more in Sarah.”
