It’s been three years since I first listened to HAIM’s debut album, Days Are Gone, which made tons of those “best of” lists in 2013 (and deservedly so), but I still don’t really know how to pronounce the band’s name. (Is it hey-em? Ha’am? Ahem? Hmmm.) This makes it pretty hard to recommend the Los Angeles-based rockers—fronted by sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim—to my friends. But then again, the Grammy nominated pop rockers don’t really need me to spread the word because they’ve already got their long lost sister, Taylor Swift—they opened up for her during Swift’s 1989 tour—to do that.

One thing I do know for sure though, is that these Jewish siblings know how to write a damn good song. “Let Me Go,” from their first album, is not just a song: it’s an open letter to every dude who has ever done you wrong. They sing: I’m giving up, not giving in / ‘cause together we are not one, we are nothing. You tell ‘em sister.

Luckily for me, HAIM is reportedly gearing up to release their sophomore album later this year. In fact, they performed two new songs during their first gig of the year in Santa Ana, California, earlier this month. “Give Me Just a Little of Your Love,” a nostalgic pop number, and “Nothing’s Wrong,” a soft rock anthem with a killer guitar solo, are statements that we will all most definitely be texting our summer flings, leaving me to conclude that the boy troubles I thought I had killed with songs like “Let Me Go” and “Don’t Save Me” will be brought back to life in the coming months, given HAIM’s perhaps prescient new body of work. But the trio’s music is so good that I’m not even mad about it.

For now, all I have is about seven minutes of grainy YouTube footage to feed my HAIM-fueled summertime sadness. But come June 3, the weekend of Governor’s Ball in New York City, they will take the stage on Randall’s Island and—fingers crossed—grace us with more sisterly advice and sweet guitar riffs. Hopefully. Because then I’ll know that the days of summer, with its barrage of “you in the city tonight?” texts, has only just arrived.

(Oh, and in case you’re wondering how HAIM is pronounced, watch this. But you already knew that, didn’t you?)
