Each Monday, we choose the most interestingly Jewish announcement from that Sunday’s New York Times Weddings/Celebrations section. Too sudden for that section were the nuptials, yesterday, in a small civil ceremony in England, of Sir Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell. Like the groom’s first wife, Linda McCartney (née Eastman), Shevell is a New York Jew who has had breast cancer (she survived it, and is now an activist). Among those in attendance were Barbara Walters, the bride’s cousin, and Ringo Starr, who was in the band the groom was in before Wings. The wedding dress was a custom-designed Stella McCartney; clearly, the step-daughter approves. And so do we. Mazel tov to the happy couple!
