• After a closed-door meeting at the Seoul nuclear summit, Israel’s intelligence minister acknowledged that President Obama means what he says: “Prevention is the policy of Washington.” [JPost]
• Special U.N. envoy Kofi Annan reports that President Assad has accepted his proposal, which involves a ceasefire, humanitarian access, and a road to free and fair elections. I’ll believe it when I see it. [DPA/Haaretz]
• An envoy became the first Israeli diplomat to appear at a J Street conference. Then he used much of his speech to demand that J Street simply stand with Israel. It was, by all accounts, awkward. [JPost]
• Kadima, which won the most support in the most recent elections, votes on its leadership today, with incumbent Tzipi Livni being challenged primarily by Shaul Mofaz. It’s expected to be close. [AP/Vos Iz Neias?]
• Jailed, popular Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti called for an end to economic and security cooperation with Israel in favor of popular resistance. Friday is Land Day, a traditional occasion of protest. [Haaretz]
• As Israel gets ready to deport several hundred South Sudanese back to their (new) homeland, a call to keep some around and generally befriend the world’s youngest nation. [JPost]
