Tablet, the National Magazine Award-winning daily online magazine of Jewish ideas and culture, is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer to lead a strategic professionalization of all operations related to the magazine’s internal functioning.The right candidate would apply several years’ experience with creative problem-solving in small-to-medium offices to deploy a comprehensive strategy to manage and streamline operations, and implement and run systems for freelance writer payments, subsidiary rights permissions, content workflow, and all aspects of physical office admin, including potential redesigns of office spaces accommodating new and future work-from-home and temp workspace arrangements. The candidate ideally but not necessarily has experience in (internet) publishing and/or foundations/non-profits, and understands the needs of a creative editorial staff. The candidate has exceptional people skills, and wants to join a team in behind-the-scenes support of all aspects of the day-to-day, medium, and long term running of an internet magazine that is growing. BoxManaging IT consultantsManaging staff-related tech: Zoom account, software licenses, email accounts, office internet and phone lines, etc. Managing and maintaining tax exemption documentation for vendors Office supply monitoring and orderingOrganize occasional staff meals and gatherings Payments/BudgetingCreate and maintain system for:Internal budgeting documentationVendor and consultant invoices incoming to TabletWriter and artist contracting and payment, including expense reports and reimbursements for both staff and freelancersMonitoring Tablet credit card accounts and reconciling monthly statementsReprint/excerpt contract management and payment Editorial point of contact with bookkeeper Space managementCreate and maintain system for:Overseeing communication with landlord, building staff, and subtenantPoint person for office-related vendorsManaging office keycards + elevator cardsManaging mobile entry appThe Chief Administrative Officer will report to Tablet’s Editor in Chief.Tablet is a project of Nextbook, Inc.
