On Friday, we noted that a report had been making the rounds naming Ron Dermer, a senior adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Tablet profilee, as Michael Oren’s successor as the Israeli ambassador to the United States.
The report, which claims that the American-born Dermer would take over for Oren in the spring of next year, has since been denied as “baseless” by the Israeli embassy. Today, some are speculating that the floating of Dermer’s name for the ambassadorship is simply a trial balloon.
In the meantime, my mother is nominating Michael Oren for Israeli ambassador to Texas.
