‘Twas the night before Purim, when all through the house (the White House, that is) no creature was hungry, not even a mouse.

The White House Office of Public Engagement released a statement Friday telling the story of Purim and sharing not one, but two hamantaschen-related recipes.

The first recipe, titled “Easy Hamantaschen,” is for the traditional, sweet Ashkenazic cookie with an orange-zest twist. For something on the savory side, they also shared a recipe for the more labor-intensive Spinach and Cheese Burekas.

If you’re not ready to bid Purim goodbye just yet, head to the kitchen to see if these politically correct pastries can compete with Tablet’s very own Chosen Hamantaschen and Ultimate Burekas.
