Two stabbings across Israel Monday, both of which have been classified as terror attacks, have roiled the country, with many expressing concern at the increasing frequency of violent incidents in recent weeks. A 24-year-old Israeli woman was killed after being stabbed in the neck at a bus stop near the West Bank settlement of Alon Shvut. Two nearby men were injured in the attack, and the suspect, a Palestinian man identified as a member of Islamic Jihad, who was imprisoned in Israel from 2000-2005, was shot by a guard near the entrance to the settlement. Reports differ as to whether the suspect was killed or injured.
Earlier Monday, a 20-year-old IDF soldier was stabbed multiple times near a Tel Aviv train station. He was rushed in critical condition to Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, where he later died of multiple wounds to his stomach and chest. The suspect, identified only as a 18-year-old from Nablus, is currently in police custody.
