Fans of Gary Shteyngart, gird your loins! The author, chronic blurber, and budding non-fiction writer has his first memoir Little Failure coming out in January. To create some hype, the Super Sad True Love Story author released a book trailer with some serious guest cameos.
In it, we see Shteyngart fumble through the rollout of his book with some prototypical self-deprecation and nebbishy self-involvement. It’s actually pretty brilliant, clever, and unexpected. The trailer includes ersatz literary factotum James Franco as Shteyngart’s lover, the suddenly ubiquitous Alex Karpovsky as his barista, the struggling-to-seem-funny Jonathan Franzen as his shrink, Sloane Crosley, Rashida Jones, and others.
Enjoy it!
