There’s a new cool anti-Israel line being peddled on X: that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is arming ISIS-linked militias.

In an interview on KAN Reshet Bet, former defense minister Avigdor Lieberman said Israel is supplying weapons to criminal groups and militias “who identify with ISIS,” allegedly under Netanyahu’s orders. “We’re talking about the equivalent of ISIS in Gaza,” he added.

But wait: Are these militias ISIS proper, ISIS-sympathetic, or “similar to ISIS”? Lieberman didn’t specify, but it was enough to send anti-Israel media and bot accounts into a frenzy.

The narrative intensified when Netanyahu echoed that he was indeed working with local clans in Gaza to undermine Hamas, confirming at least half of Lieberman’s assertion (per CBS). “What’s wrong with that?” asked the prime minister. “It’s only good. It saves the lives of IDF soldiers.”
