Is Obama Circumcised?

The latest question from the nutty ‘birther’ movement

The loons in the “birther” movement have come up with a new demand for Barack Obama to prove he was born in the United States. (They’re convinced he wasn’t, and is thus ineligible to become president.) They want him to reveal whether he’s circumcised. If not, they say, it’s proof that he was born on foreign soil, because so many American men—Jewish or not—are circumcised. Jezebel’s Kay Steiger points us to comments on Free Republic, where one lazy conspiracy theorist yearns for “someone to make a phone call to the hospitols [sic] in HI and ask if they routinely do circumcism [sic] and when that practice started.”

This is just ridiculous. I don’t even understand what it would prove, except that his mother fell for the post-WWII circumcision fetish. While Americans do it more than anyone else (in the rest of the world, it’s done almost exclusively for religion, as they recognize the “health benefits” rationalization is complete BS), it was absolutely not required and any doctor who did it without parental consent should have been stripped of his credentials and the hospital face criminal charges. It’s plastic surgery, plain and simple, and there’ll never be a time when 100% of Americans are okay with forcing their children into it. In fact now it’s about 55% and falling fast.

I’ve said that least 2821857 times. The problem this like that is they are just too compilcated for the average bird, if you know what I mean

Mark D. Budka says:

This really has no relevance to how I vote. However, as the Nebraska Capital Building is known as the “Prick on the Plains”, I thought I would build a useless 100 floor Post-modern skyscraper between Lincoln and Omaha modelled on Barak’s penis. It will have a giant 100,000 candlepower beacon at the tip. Because I can. Since no blog actually answers the stupid question: I’m Reformed, born in a Methodist hospital and circumcised, I want you to know the whole subject is really about as stupid as building the Obama Phaliscenter with its Kathleen Sibilius Ballroom as is anybody who believes the Democratic Party actually helps the Poor!
