An interesting tidbit of news emerged last weekend regarding a partnership between Israel and Honduras, where “kidnapping, crime and violence…remains critically high,” according to a U.S. State Department travel warning issued this month. To fight crime, which has swelled over the last 15 years, the country’s leadership is seeking Congressional approval of an agreement with Israel to help “fortif[y] our armed forces with capabilities that we likely never would have obtained,” said Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández. Reported The Jerusalem Post:

[Hernández] added that the Honduran military will go about this by “using technology from the latest generation” of Israeli military innovation to boost its abilities…

The Honduran president made the announcement of the pact with Israel on Sunday during a military demonstration marking the 52-year anniversary of the establishment of the country’s Second Airborne Infantry Battalion.

Under the agreement, the details of which are sparesely available, Israel will provide Honduras with the “latest technology” to fight organized crime.
