5. Two guys currently prominent with the Milwaukee Brewers and the Boston Red Sox. You already have teams!

4. Steve Garvey and Orel Hershiser. Would be a nice statement to have former players own the club; would have added benefit of getting Hershisher out of the broadcast booth.

    i thought the O’malley family own it for many years. Was charlie ebbets jewish? the only jews on the dodgers i remember were cal abrams and coach jake pitler.

    I’ll never understand the weird connection with the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Dodgers have played more games in LA than they did in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Dodger veneration is some sort of fetish or cult.

    I saw a lecture this summer by the guy who wrote the new bio of Roy Campanella. A guy (perhaps in his 60s) showed up in a Brooklyn Dodger uniform. And this was in Philadelphia. That’s weird.

    I think the only reason that there is this attachment is because of the book, “Boys of Summer.” Read it lately? Not that hot.

    Before getting off the soapbox, a few notes about the actual Brooklyn Dodgers rather than what people may think about them. 1 championship in more than 60 years. Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson without purchasing his contract from the Kansas City Monarchs. The attendance in Brooklyn declined steadily in the final ten years before they moved west.

    Before I leave, I happen think Orel Hershiser is a great color guy. Steve Garvey, however, is a little creepy.

    Hey Neal, leave us not forget the greatest of them all, Sandy Koufax, who played his entire career for both the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers.
