Daybreak: Syria, Iran Threaten Retaliation

• Following an Israeli strike on what was reported to be a weapons convey entering Lebanon from Syria, both Iran and Syria have threatened to retaliate against Israel. Iran specifically threatened Tel Aviv. [AP]

• In more good news, the United Nations issued a report following an investigation it started in March that called on Israel to withdraw from all West Bank settlements immediately. The report also asserted that Israeli refusal to withdraw could lead to war crimes charges in the ICC. [JTA]

• In even more good news, Venezuelan intelligence services are reported to be spying on its Jewish communities as well as Venezuelan companies with ties to Israel. Over half of Venezuela’s Jews have fled in the last decade. [Arutz Sheva]

• Former representative Gabrielle Giffords made an emotional plea before Congress yesterday for action on gun control. Her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, also spoke. [LAT]
