• Csanad Szegedi, the anti-Semitic politician in Hungary’s far-right Jobbik Party who recently discovered he was Jewish, is now apparently embracing his Semitic roots. [Times of Israel]
• The New York Times’ India Ink blog profiles Kolkata’s remaining Jews, who last month made headlines for reaching their first minyan in 25 years at the Magen David Synagogue. [NYT]
• Dmitry Flekman, a 29-year-old Ukrainian Jew, was arrested, interrogated, and beaten up by two detectives earlier this month in Lviv, Urkraine, a nine-hour ordeal the local Jewish community says symbolizes rhe country’s ising nationalism and anti-Semitism. [JTA]
• Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has said she is “disappointed” by an email sent by fellow Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson, in which Grayson compared the tea party to the Ku Klux Klan. [Politico]
• A car bomb in Ashkelon killed one person and injured another in what police suspect is a mob-related incident, the third such occurrence this week. [Jerusalem Post]
• Tablet contributor Avital Chizhik on Sarah Schenirer, the ultra-Orthodox seamstress from Krakow, Poland, who pioneered Jewish education for young girls in the early 20th century. [Haaretz]
