Life and Religion Editor wins Stonewall Book Award

We are excited to announce that Tablet Magazine’s Life and Religion Editor Wayne Hoffman has been awarded the Stonewall Book Award for literature for his novel Sweet Like Sugar. The novel tells the story of the chance meeting and unlikely friendship between a young gay man and an older Orthodox rabbi.
Hoffman discussed the book with Vox Tablet last summer.
On a personal note, I read Hoffman’s book before I knew him or ever had an affiliation with Tablet. A work that artfully manages the terrain between faith and love without falling into the cliches of the themes is a triumph. This is an important book that unlocks the mysteries of religion in the modern world. It’s an honor to celebrate it.
