At least eight people have been injured in a suspected terrorist attack in Jerusalem this evening, after a car plowed into a light rail stop near Ammunition Hill, running over passengers departing the train. Initial reports say the victims include a baby in critical condition. There have also been reports of shots fired on the scene, apparently towards the vehicle and the assailant. The driver, an Arab resident of Silwad, has been arrested, according to Haaretz.
Such attacks–whether cars, trucks or other vehicles—have occurred dating back to the Second Intifada, and most recently this past August, when Naif Jabis, a Palestinian citizen of Jerusalem, used a construction vehicle to flip over a bus, killing 29-year-old Avraham Walles and wounding several others.
We will update as we learn more.
UPDATE: Video has been posted of the incident.
