• It’s not just that a Jewish kid was selected seventh overall in the Major League Baseball draft. Max Fried a) played for the (gold medal-winning) 2009 Maccabiah team; b) wore Sandy Koufax’ #32—in homage to Koufax, mind you—while he c) competed for his high school, Harvard-Westlake. • As a reminder that flopping in basketball—taking exaggerated falls upon contact in order to draw foul calls against the other team—is both not new and extremely uncool, Deadspin dug up the following video of the great Red Auerbach, then president of the Boston Celtics (and a resident of Washington, D.C., home of the Bullets), demonstrating what flops are and explaining that they are lame (ahem).
